How to Climb Kenya's Highest Mountain

 

The highest mountain in Kenya is called the Mount Kenya. Mountain climbing and adventure travel are one of the most preferred and admired types of hiking. To successfully and enjoyable climb mount Kenya, first of all, you to study the whole map of the place keenly. This can be done both aerially of by studying geographical photos. To climb this mountain, several routes are used. For instance, chogoria route is the commonly used way. Through this route, one can take about five days in climbing this scenic region. The dry side of the mountain provides one of the excellent walking areas. The summit part of the mountain remains the most admired area of the mountain. This chogoria route commences from the northwestern parts of this fascinating landscape. Facilities like the bunkhouses are the standard features on this particular side of the mountain.

 

Your journey to this region should be well planned right from day one to the last day of your anticipated tour. Let us assume you are coming from Nairobi all the to the mountain site. You are supposed to leave Nairobi city at about 0800hours, and you proceed towards Nanyuki town where you will have your lunch break. After your breakfast now you will take another 1 hour- drive towards the sirimon gate which is about 2440M. At this point now you will follow a path which is winding uphill in the forest. After several meters of trekking, the vegetation will start getting heath. Still on the same track after three and half hours, the path bends right towards the judmier camp which is about 3300M. In the following day, you will wake up and take your breakfast then kick off your trip. Still, you will continue with the journey uphill. On your way upwards you will cross the ontulii river still another beautiful part of the good mountain. Past this river, you will turn left following the contoured lanes, and you will start approaching the moorland now. As you move further uphill, you encounter the Mackinder's valley. At this juncture, you will start realizing panoramic views which extend upwards up to the peak of the mountain. The third day you will start it by taking the breakfast and start to acclimatize yourself with the region. All the other subsequent days of your trip you will spend them as you wish and finally come down the mountain and that will the end of your of fascinating adventure at Mount Kenya.
